In an open letter to their daughter, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan announced their decision to donate 99 percent of their Facebook shares in an effort to leave the world in a better place than where it is today. Where will they focus their donations? Among other things, Zuckerberg and Chan plan to invest in personalized learning. If they have anything to do with it, education as they experienced it, a place where everyone "learned the same things at the same pace regardless of [one's] interests or needs," will no longer exist. With personalized learning, students will not only "perform better on tests, but they [will] gain the skills and confidence to learn anything they want." What is personalized learning?
