Everyone can’t be the star quarterback. But according to Stanford psychology professor Carol Dweck, everyone can get better with “good practice, good strategies, good coaching.” This concept, coined by Dweck as the growth mindset, has formed the basis of the Philadelphia Eagles’ coaching philosophy. Head coach Chip Kelly and his coaching staff:
- present skills as learnable;
- convey that the organization values learning and perseverance, not just ready-made genius or talent;
- give feedback in a way that promotes learning and future success; and
- present managers as resources for learning.
Sounds like Kelly and his team would love Practice.
