The week of May 16 concluded Goodwill Industries' Spring Conference, Focus on Success: Outcomes for Impact, held in Indianapolis, Indiana for their learning and development professionals. Participants attended sessions ranging from the importance of emotional intelligence to ways to support veterans and people with disabilities towards employment. Goodwill Industries International (GII) has the overarching and broad mission to provide job skills training and related services to those who need it the most and may otherwise not have access. Their network in the U.S. and Canada includes 164 independent Goodwill organizations and more than 3,000 retail thrift stores. These stores sell donated items and household goods in order to pay for programs that are critical to the local communities. It is not surprising that Forbes named Goodwill one of America’s top 20 most inspiring companies in 2014.
