Last month, ATD and Relias released a comprehensive research report on the State of Healthcare Training. The report surveyed 123 healthcare facilities ranging across acute care hospital services to outpatient behavioral healthcare to skilled nursing facilities. The goal of the report was to provide information that can aid healthcare facilities in benchmarking their staff development and training programs. Key findings included that on average, healthcare facilities spend $782 per employee on staff development and training, and the average number of formal learning hours used per employee was 26.2. The survey also found that mandatory and compliance training and new employee orientation dominated training content, and more than half of the learning hours used were delivered by using technology alone or providing a blended learning experience.
