Instructure Integrates Gallup’s Clifton StrengthsFinder into a New Course on the Bridge Platform


The free 15-minute course aims to positively affect employee engagement by helping managers lead with strengths.

SALT LAKE CITY – March 25, 2015 – Instructure today launched a free online course based on the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment, created by Gallup, and used in the popular book, “StrengthsFinder 2.0.” The course, titled “Strengths, Spinach and Kryptonite” aims to positively affect employee engagement by identifying and leveraging each employee’s unique strengths. The course will be hosted on Bridge, Instructure's new cloud-based corporate learning and engagement platform.
Gallup research has found that building employees’ strengths is far more effective than trying to improve weaknesses. It suggests that if every organization in America trained their managers to focus on employees’ strengths, the U.S. could double the number of engaged employees — those who are involved, enthusiastic, committed and contributing positively in their workplace. For workers who agreed that their supervisor focused on their strengths, active disengagement fell dramatically.
“Engaged workers are the lifeblood of organizations. Yet, Gallup research has found that 70 percent of American workers are not engaged or are actively disengaged in their jobs, which costs U.S. businesses up to $550 billion per year,” said Paul Allen, strengths evangelist at Gallup. “We believe the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment is a powerful way to help managers overcome the stumbling blocks inherent in disengagement, and we've seen “strengths” positively impact thousands of businesses for the better.”
According to Gallup research, organizations with 9.3 engaged employees for every actively disengaged employee experienced 147 percent higher earnings per share over their competition. Instructure, which is known for its K-12 and higher education cloud software, designed Bridge to help organizations increase employee engagement through software that measures and improves employee sentiment, knowledge and alignment to top corporate goals. Among the first foundation partners to pilot the platform are CLEARLINK, OpenTable and Oregon State University, which use Bridge to train administrative staff.

Gallup’s data shows that simply learning employees’ strengths can make them more productive at work. In fact, teams that focus on strengths every day have 12.5 percent greater productivity, resulting in higher levels of performance, profitability and greater earnings per share.
